Boat Stuf was started in 1984 by Eric Beier as a division of Frank L. Beier Radio, Inc., which has been in business since 1945.
Eric grew up in the marine electronics business carrying tool boxes for his father on and off tow boats, yachts, and ships in his pre-teen years and assisting with electronics installs during high school and college.
Eric worked in the oilfield as a Coast Guard licensed crew boat captain and graduated from LSU. He attended grad school and worked for a CPA firm for three years including a stint on active and reserve duty with the U.S. Army. He and Sharon married early in 1969. Both are native New Orleanians. Eric and Sharon became 100% owners of Boat Stuf in 2006 with Eric overseeing the day to day operations and sales of the Harvey location.
Eric and Sharon are Life Sponsors in Perpetuity with Ducks Unlimited and Eric was a past State Chairman. When not at the duck camp, they enjoy sport fishing and boating on the Tchefuncte River. Having travelled quite a bit, Eric and Sharon mostly love to entertain at home and from their second home, “the RV”, at Mardi Gras. Of course, anything to do with the grandkids tops the list.
Jimmy came on board in 1992 and was instrumental in choosing the quality lines of saltwater fishing boats that we sell today. His passion for Tournament Fishing and knowledge of the marine industry help us in knowing the needs of our customers. Jimmy manages the sales at the Slidell store as well as ordering all of the boats, motors, and trailers for both locations. Jimmy attended LSU and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
Beth is Eric and Sharon’s daughter and Jimmy’s wife. She handles marketing, sales, boat shows, and general accounting. Beth graduated from Tulane University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Beth and Jimmy are both Life Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited and CCA.
• James and Caroline started out going to work with the family on weekends and in the summertime throughout most of their lives. After getting their boating licenses at just 10 years old, they were ready to dive in and help water test or clean any boats necessary and have worked their way up from Boat Washers to know the ins and outs of the boating industry. James attended Southern Mississippi University. James can often be found in a boat or at least near any body of water in the Gulf Coast. Caroline graduated from LSU and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. If she’s not on a boat or shooting skeet at Covey Rise with her brother, you can almost always find Caroline with Hank, her 13-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer.
